Perhaps ballet isn’t for your child or you’d just prefer they take on something more modern – if so, check out our tap dance and modern dance classes for children aged 4 and up!
Modern dance provides girls and boys with the opportunity to develop a more current style of dance. The classes are lively and lots of fun! The children learn core dance skills which are developed and built upon as they progress through the grades. The lessons are based around a structured syllabus which involves learning set exercises as well as free dances, providing the children with the opportunity to take exams.
Tap dance is excellent for developing a sense of rhythm and musicality – the children find it great fun learning different rhythms and trying to recreate them with their feet.
It also encourages appreciation and interaction with a different type of music. The classes are structured around a tap syllabus which provides the children with the opportunity to take exams.
This is a non syllabus class aimed at students who wish to release stress and dance in a relaxed yet structured environment. There is no exam focus and is suitable for students who wish to join a dance class at a later age. This class explores efficiency in movement through the use of weight and momentum as well as finding ease, fluidity and power in the body.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program using mats and yoga balls that has been designed to enhance students’ technique in all forms of dance by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance.
The program helps with injury prevention and rehabilitation and enhances the ability of athletes to perform at their best. It can be difficult for students to feel which muscles initiate the correct alignment in training. However, with the use of an exercise ball, the students gain a great sense of posture and weight-placement whilst feeling each correct muscle group working throughout each exercise, which then stays with them whilst performing.
