Tap/Modern Classes (4yrs +)
Tap/Modern Classes at our school are dedicated to children over 4 years old. This combination class is perfect for beginners who want to experience and explore the common links of rhythm and improvisation shared by both genres. Once they have a good grasp on the basics, pupils are encouraged to build upon them and progress through the grades. Our teaching program is specifically designed to give lessons at every stage and develop children’s skills, as well as teach them patience, kindness, and group work. Our highly experienced teachers are not only great dancers but also amazing educators who do well with children.
Beginning Tap can be quite a slow process, since it’s necessary to work through the basics in a systematic manner. Learning it in combination with Modern helps improve posture and also provides a useful backing in performance skills.
Since we know how important it is to see your children’s progress, twice a year, parents are invited to watch classes at the end of the Autumn and Summer terms. However, if you would like to know about your child’s progress and their behaviour more often, our teachers are always happy to talk with you.
Moreover, our teachers prepare students to take Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance exams.
Students must complete 4 terms in order to be able to take a RAD Ballet exam or an ISTD Tap/Modern exam.
Children develop at different rates and the teacher will advise parents when a pupil is ready to move on to the next level – the ages given are merely a guideline.
